Mir Mukhtiar Ali started working with Mathias Duplessy from france, a few years ago and soon realised they had a common language in music. They evolved a style of their own, which was inspired by Rajastani Folk, Flamenco, Blues, Reggae, African, Japanese and Mangolian music. In 2011, they recorded an album in Paris called "Jeena Jeena" and are performing since with the great Bastien Charlery, accordion player from the Bulgarian gipsy style.

The Shah Hussain Project

Shah Hussain is a lesser known 16th century Sufi poet, whose contribution to spiritual poetry is comparable to that of Kabir and Bulleh Shah. These poems, called kafis, are a glimpse into the social setting of his time, but his insights are equally relevant today. Through the Shah Hussain Project, Mir Mukhtiar Ali and Vasundhara Das intend to bring his poetry out of the closet and make it a part of popular consciousness. Celebrated musician Roberto Narain is the producer as well as drummer on this project.
